Description | Taken on a overcast and rainy day in the front yard of a private home during the Sacramento Valley CNPS “Gardens Gone Native” tour on April 29, 2014. This is such a simple and inexpensive but vibrantly colorful scene filled with water-thrifty California native salvias, irises, and poppies, and it reminded me of the paintings of Claude Monet. The arc of yellow irises (with a single one off to the side) looks like the crescent moon with Venus, and it draws the eye upward toward the pretty wooden bench. What a perfect place to sit and watch the world go by! |
