| Description | The photo was taken in Napa in late summer. I often see lizards sunning themselves on rocks and was surprised to see one on a melon. I suppose, from a lizard’s point of view a melon is as good a perch as any other garden object.Melons are members of the Cucurbitaceae family and relatives of cucumber, squash, pumpkin, and watermelon. Cucurbits are monoecious and pollinated predominantly by honeybees and native bees. |
