POSITION: Assistant Professor of Weed Science
LOCATION: Department of Plant, Soil and Microbial Sciences, Michigan State University
CLOSING DATE: April 15, 2018 or until position is filled
APPOINTMENT: 9-month tenure track
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Department of Plant, Soil and Microbial Sciences (PSM), (https://www.canr.msu.edu/psm/) at Michigan State University seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor (9-month appointment) in the discipline of weed science. The position is a research-intensive appointment (75% research, 25% teaching). We are seeking candidates who address compelling fundamental research questions in weed biology and physiology, including ecological and evolutionary forces that contribute to the establishment, spread, and persistence of weeds in agroecosystems using population genetics, molecular ecology, evolution, physiological and/or genome-scale approaches. We are specifically interested in applicants that are using molecular-genetic, biochemical, physiology, and/or genome-based approaches for understanding the basis for weed resilience, adaption and resistance to chemical, environmental, and biotic stress. Successful applicants will contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching in weed science and maintain an externally funded research program. Candidates with experience in molecular and computational and/or genome-based methods, including the ability to process, analyze, and interpret large-scale data sets are especially encouraged to apply. We seek colleagues with exceptional promise to be leaders in their field.
