Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP)
EFNEP is a federally-funded program that offers nutrition education to limited-resource families. In California, the EFNEP State Office is located at the University of California Davis, and the program is delivered through UC Cooperative Extension in 24 counties including Riverside.
In Riverside, EFNEP collaborates with Head Starts, State Preschools, local early childhood development centers, and other agencies serving preschoolers to provide nutrition education to both parents and children.
Adult EFNEP Program
Eating Smart-Being Active curriculum is developed by EFNEP staffs at University of California Davis and Colorado State University
The curriculum is based on the adult-learning principle or learner-centered education as outlined in Dr. Joye Norris' book From Telling to Teaching.
EFNEP nutrition educators deliver a series of eight 1-hour classes to teach adult participants how make healthy lifestyle choices.

Youth EFNEP Program
Youth EFNEP partners with preschool teachers and train them to deliver lessons and activities from Happy Healthy Me (HHM) or Go, Glow, Grow (GGG) to teach children about food groups, healthy choices and exercise.
