Summary/Abstract from Original Source
Processing tomato production has changed greatly over the last decade. Improvements in varieties continues to increase yields and fruit quality. Transplanting has become the norm for most growers. The rapid adoption of Drip is transforming not only how water is applied, but how crop fertility is managed. In light of these changes it is worthwhile to reconsider fertilizer management practices, particularly for drip-irrigated culture. This work includes nutrient uptake patterns for processing tomato, nutrient management recommendations, and plant monitoring practices. Total seasonal fertigated nitrogen should range between 100-180 lb per acre in applications just prior to and during rapid growth phases.
