Evaluating California's Youth Workforce Development Program
EVALUATING CALIFORNIA'S YOUTH WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
(2005-2006)
Fouth interim report - Evaluation of California's Workforce Investment System
This project takes advantage of a unique opportunity to partner with the California Workforce Investment Board and the state Employment Development Department to advance knowledge about how the state can best provide programs that link youth to jobs in the emerging economy. Using comparative case studies the study will examine the mission, partnerships, and investments of California Youth Councils and Workforce Investment Act (WIA) youth programs. The research supplements an existing UC Davis evaluation of the overall workforce development system in California, funded by the California Workforce Investment Board. The goals of the youth WIA evaluation are 1) to better understand WIA programs as they assist in the development of life skills for youth ages 14-21; 2) to describe how different local workforce areas have implemented youth-focused Workforce Investment Act programs; and 3) gather multiple perspectives on the results and effectiveness of these programs.
