The Conejo Valley Botanic Garden is 33 acres of natural terrain encircled by the city of Thousand Oaks. From the sweeping vistas at the peak of the Garden through fifteen unique, hillside specialty gardens, and onto the hiking trail along the riparian steam, the Conejo Valley Botanic Garden is a destination for Master Gardeners to learn and volunteer.

The Garden is a visual guide to low-maintenance, drought-tolerant plants. The Garden provides a teaching laboratory for what works and what does not work in the Conejo Valley. It could serve as a repository for information pertinent to this area.

Objectives:

To continue to preserve much of the Garden’s natural terrain.

To establish landscaped areas as demonstration gardens with Mediterranean and water-conserving plantings.

To develop specialty gardens as outdoor classrooms.

To establish a center for horticultural and environmental interest, information and activity in Ventura County.

To promote and demonstrate UC science-based gardening practices.

Activities:

Practice and maintain regular gardening practices, including weeding, cleaning, deadheading, planting as needed.

Garden design, site preparation and layout, irrigation installation and repairs as needed.

Have fun with gardening friends.

Volunteer Workdays:

Thursday - 8:30 to noon

Saturdays - 9:00 to noon
