Healthy Living Wordplay Activity
This club activity will help members to understand that 4-H has a long history of promoting healthy living among youth and their families. 4-H Healthy Living encompasses a holistic approach including healthy eating habits, physical fitness, the capacity to recognize and direct emotions, and the ability to develop and maintain positive social relationships. In this activity, youth will broaden their definition of healthy living to include physical, emotional and social wellness.
Mindful eating is all about getting to know your food better – what it looks like, smells like, feels like, and – of course – what it taste like. By practicing mindful eating we slow down our food consumption, notice what we are eating more and how it makes us feel. Use this 4-H-Plate to guide students through practicing eating mindfully.
Presentations
A primary goal of improving your ability to focus is to increase your productivity. This presentation, given at the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources Statewide conference will provide background and tips on how to accomplish that. The handout furthers the application of these concepts.
This presentation was delivered as an introduction to mindfulness at the 2018 UC 4-H Mindfulness Retreat.
