Join us for the 6th Annual Farm-to-Preschool Festival!

The Farm-to-Preschool Festival was created in 2018 as a way to engage young children and their families in activities that will help them learn about healthy eating and understanding where food comes from.
This FUN and FREE community event for preschool-aged children includes hands-on activities, crafts, music, wagon rides, vegetable harvesting in the U-Pick garden, and much more! (sibling welcome!)

El Festival De la Granja al Preescolar se creó en 2018 como una forma de involucrar a los niños pequeños y sus familias en actividades que los ayudarán a aprender sobre alimentación saludable y comprender de dónde provienen los alimentos. ¡Este evento comunitario DIVERTIDO y GRATUITO para niños de las edades preescolar incluye actividades, prácticas, manualidades, música, paseos en carreta, cosecha de vegetales en el jardín U-Pick y mucho más! (hermanos bienvenidos!)

Festival Details

The 4th annual Farm-to-Preschool Festival is back!

Join us for vegetable harvesting in the U-Pick garden and take home a kit full of fun activities and recipes. We are reserving by time-slots to reduce the number of people on-site and reduce the risk of exposure to Covid-19. Families will enter through the UC Desert Research Center (1004 Holton Rd in Holtville) and walk to the harvesting garden to pick their own vegetables. There will be no hay wagons rides, please bring a stroller or wagon if needed! Please click the link to view walking route: https://ucanr.edu/sites/drecBETA/files/362204.pdf

After harvesting, participants will exit through the UC Cooperative Extension (1050 Holton Rd in Holtville) and receive a Festival Kit (Activities and recipes to use with your children at home). After the festival, we will host virtual programs to do the activities with you in English and Spanish. More information and dates to come.

Please note: The University of California DREC requires that masks be worn at all times during youth activities. All participants will need to sign a waiver of liability before entering the property and review the Covid Clearance Survey (https://ucanr.edu/sites/drecBETA/files/360128.pdf) We are ensuring that we do our best to have a fun and safe event. Hand sanitizer and handwashing stations will be available throughout the event. Please make sure to maintain social distancing (at least 6ft apart). Please stay home if anyone in your group is not feeling well.

Les invitamos a cosechar vegetales en el jardín U-Pick y llévese a casa un kit lleno de actividades y recetas divertidas. Estamos reservando por franjas horarias para reducir la cantidad de personas en el sitio y reducir el riesgo de exposición. Las familias ingresarán a través de UC Desert Research Center (1004 Holton Rd en Holtville) y caminarán hasta el jardín de cosecha para recoger sus propios vegetales. No habrá paseos en carretas de heno, ¡traiga una carriola o una carreta si es necesario! Después de la cosecha, los participantes saldrán por UC Cooperative Extension(1050 Holton Rd en Holtville) y recibirán un Kit del Festival (Actividades y recetas para usar con sus hijos en casa). The Farm-to-Preschool Festival was created in 2018 as a way to engage young children and their families in activities that will help them learn about healthy eating and understanding where food comes from.
This FUN and FREE community event for preschool-aged children included hands-on activities, crafts, music, wagon rides, vegetable harvesting in the U-Pick garden, and much more! With Covid 19 restrictions still in place throughout Imperial Valley and California, we have shifted the traditional in-person event to a Farm to preschool Festival Kit.  These kits include a variety of hands-on activities to continue engaging families with learning about where their food comes from and healthy eating habits.

El Farm-to-Preschool Festival se creó en 2018 como una manera de involucrar a los niños pequeños y sus familias en actividades que los ayudarán a aprender sobre la alimentación saludable y a comprender de dónde provienen los alimentos.

¡Este evento comunitario DIVERTIDO y GRATUITO para niños en edad preescolar incluyó actividades prácticas, manualidades, música, paseos en carreta, cosecha de vegetales en el jardín U-Pick y mucho más! Con las restricciones de Covid 19 aún vigentes en el Valle Imperial y California, hemos cambiado el evento tradicional en persona a un kit de festival de Farm to preschool. Estos kits incluyen una variedad de actividades prácticas para que las familias sigan participando y aprendiendo de dónde provienen sus alimentos y hábitos alimenticios saludables.

• From Seed to Fruit Interactive Game (English and Spanish): This game takes children through the different stages of growth in the life of a cherry tomato plant. Planting a seed in a cup and watching it grow over time is a wonderful way to introduce the life cycle to young children.
