UC ANR website, portal down
On the evening of Friday, June 9, we received notice from the Campus data center that there was a strong electrical burning smell in the building, near where our server racks are located. We responded immediately and came on-site to inspect all of our equipment racks and backup power source located therein.
While we found no issue or troubles emitting from our equipment, the burning smell persisted. Unable to determine the source of the burning smell, and out of an abundance of caution, we powered down our equipment and asked the data center staff to contact the fire department.
The fire department arrived at approximately 11 p.m., and suggested that the source was most likely from the building system, and not the electronic equipment.
We have since started to bring our system back online. Due to the size of the data stored in the equipment and the number of devices involved, the process will take approximately 24+ hours. Our IT team is on-site and attending to the effort to bring the system back as soon as possible. The UC ANR website and subpages, as well as the portal, are all offline until all the equipment is up and running.
We will keep you posted as to the progress. In the meantime we thank you for your patience while the web server and other services are being restored.
