News about Dorina Espinoza, UCCE advisor
Dear Colleagues,
It's with a heavy heart that I am writing to let you know that our dear friend and colleague Dorina Espinoza is suffering from an extremely aggressive cancer. Yana Valachovic, Dorina's supervisor, has spoken with her family members, who gave their permission to share this news with you. They want you to know that Dorina is with her family and receiving excellent hospice care.
Dorina, UC Cooperative Extension youth, families and communities advisor for Humboldt and Del Norte counties, has been a member of UC ANR since 2012. You may remember that at the ANR town hall in May, she and Julia Van Soelen Kim, UCCE North Bay food systems advisor, gave a presentation about the North Coast Emergency Food Network they built to feed people during disasters and strengthen the economic viability of local food producers.
This type of news is never easy to deliver or receive. But we can let Dorina's family know that we appreciate her and all that she has given to improve the health and welfare of her community members.
If you would like to send a card to Dorina and her family, you may address it to Dorina Espinoza at our UCCE Humboldt office at 5630 South Broadway, Eureka, CA 95503.
Additionally, please remember the Academic and Staff Assistance Program (ASAP) is available to all ANR employees for confidential, cost-free assessment, intervention, consultation and referral services. These services are available to ANR employees and their immediate families.
Please take care of yourselves and keep Dorina and her family in your hearts.
