Community of Science (COS) is a Web-based publisher of services that support and advance scientific and scholarly research. COS uses powerful, leading-edge technologies to organize information relevant to researchers and research institutions and alerting tools that interact with the databases to help disseminate the information they contain.
Cornerstone services offered by COS include:
- COS Expertise - the premier database of first-person profiles containing more than 60,000 researchers at leading universities and research institutions.
- COS Funding Opportunities - the most comprehensive pre-award database in the world, with over 15,000 records updated daily with federal, state, corporate, foundation and other opportunities.
- COS Faculty Match and COS Funding Match - provide customized lists of funding opportunities for a particular researcher and lists of faculty interested in a particular funding opportunity.
- U.S. Patents - full-field searchable database of all U.S. patents issued since 1975.
- Federal Register and Commerce Business Daily - user-friendly and searchable versions with customized alert service.
- Funded Research - database of grants funded by major agencies.
Federal Information Exchange (FEDIX)
FEDIX is an on-line service providing access to information about federal research opportunities; program contacts; scholarships, fellowships and grants; available research equipment; procurement notices from the Commerce Business Daily, Federal Register and other sources; current events within participating agencies; and minority opportunities. An electronic mail feature allows users to communicate with the system operators.
The Foundation Center
The Foundation Center seeks to foster public understanding of the foundation field by collecting, organizing, analyzing, and disseminating information on foundations, corporate giving, and related subjects.
Foundations On-Line
Foundations On-Line maintains a directory of charitable grantmakers, with links to other sources of funding information and advice.
Government Printing Office (via the University of California GPO Gate)
GPO Gate is designed to help citizens easily access the laws, regulations, reports, data and other information provided through the GPO Access system. Among the growing list of titles available are the Federal Register, the Congressional Record, Congressional Bills, United States Code, Economic Indicators and GAO Reports.
Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA)
The Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) is a government-wide compendium of Federal programs, projects, services, and activities which provide assistance or benefits to the American public. It contains financial and nonfinancial assistance programs administered by departments and establishments of the Federal government.
