The Sustainable Natural Resources and Agriculture 4-H SET Curriculum Research and Development Project
Project Leader: Martin Smith UC Davis Population Health & Reproduction also Human & Community Development
This RREA project revised the Our Rangelands curriculum to make its existing activities more inquiry-based in an effort to improve its educational effectiveness. Formative data was collected, curriculum content was reorganized and applicable 4-H SET abilities were identified; once completed we pilot-tested the revised curriculum with 4-H state leaders. Survey data was collected from the 24 teen leaders involved in the pilot test and showed a significant increase in their interest in learning more about California rangeland, understanding of the difference between grasses and forbs, and in their understanding of the difference between grazers and browsers.
