Beekeeping in San Diego County is an outreach and education program developed by the University of California Cooperative Extension San Diego, working in collaboration with University scientists and educators; the San Diego County Department of Agriculture, Weights and Measures; the San Diego Beekeeping Society and other stakeholders. Program objectives are:

• promote honey bee and apiary health
• strengthen the beekeeping and honey production industry in the San Diego County region
• share information on bee health and beekeeping best management practices (BMPs)

NOTE: The County of San Diego CANNOT remove bees from private property. They DO NOT recommend that you attempt to remove bees yourself. The bees may become agitated and you and others may be stung. Please contact a pest control company (look under "BEES" in the yellow pages) to find a local company that operates in your area.

The San Diego Beekeeping Society (SDBS):

The San Diego Beekeeping Society (SDBS) is an active group with a wide range of beekeeping experience amongst its members. Members of the SDBS Board collaborated in the development of the San Diego County Beekeeping ordinance and several members have been contributing partners in the development of this program.
