Required Safety Plans

California regulations require that each ANR location must maintain certain written safety programs, including an Injury and Illness Prevention Program, an Emergency Action Plan, and a Fire Prevention Plan. These plans must be reviewed and updated periodically to make sure they reflect current personnel and operations. We recommend checking the plans at least annually to update any changes in key personnel or other revisions.

Please complete this survey to document that your office is in compliance with this requirement.

Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP). Every ANR office or location must have an IIPP that complies with California Code of Regulations, Title 8, Section 3203. Safety Note #061 describes the required elements of an IIPP.

ANR EH&S has prepared a template that can be filled in to meet the IIPP requirements: http://safety.ucanr.org/Plans,_Forms_and_Templates/IIPP/

Emergency Action Plan and Fire Prevention Plan.

California Code of Regulations, Title 8, Section 3220 requires employers to have an emergency action plan that prepares employees for how to respond to emergency situations. Additionally, Title 8, Section 3*** requires employers to have a fire prevention plan. ANR EH&S has prepared a template that combines these plans and can be filled in to meet the code requirements: http://safety.ucanr.org/files/2905.doc.

For additional information, Safety Note #145 provides tips for preparing an emergency evacuation map and Safety Note #072 presents basic fire prevention measures.
