Strawberry field day to demonstrate research on fumigants and herbicides

Spence USDA Farm, 1572 Old Stage Rd, Salinas, CA – located at the SW corner of Spence Rd. and Old Stage Rd. The entrance to the farm is on Old Stage Rd. about ¼ mile South of the corner of Spence Rd and Old Stage Rd. Signs will be posted.
Demonstrations and presentations to be made:
- 8:30 to 9 am Registration – Free
- 9:00 to 9:30. Regulatory update on soil fumigants. Karen Stahlman, Monterey County Agricultural Commissioner's office.
- 9:30 to 10:00. An update on the status of charcoal rot and Fusarium wilt infestations in Central Coast strawberry plantings. Steve Koike, UC Cooperative Extension, Monterey County
- 10:00 to 10:30. Updates on alternative fumigants. Evaluation of drip-applied & shank Dominus (AITC), Paladin, Metam K, Pic60, and Pic 80 applied under TIF. Husein Ajwa
- 10:30 to 11: 00. Evaluation of Stinger, a new potential herbicide for strawberry. Evaluation of Temozad in strawberry. Steve Fennimore and Tom Miller.
- 11:00 am adjourn
Approval for 2.0 hours of continuing education have been requested from California DPR
