Roundup Resistant alfalfa rotated with Roundup Ready cotton will likely push this problem in ways Californians haven't yet imagined. It will be roughly the equivalent of RR soybeans rotated with RR cotton in the South -- a means of selecting for weed resistances in a relatively short time. A North Carolina crop consultant said not long ago that Roundup resistant pigweed was the only problem in his career that had not been exaggerated by reports he read before the problem eventually reached his area.
