FUSD Elementary Stratagies
At least one fruit is labeled as the featured fruit-of-the-day and is labeled with a creative, descriptive name at the point of selection.
Fruit-of-the-day Sign: Pre-printed signs and dry erase markers can be picked up from SLM Coordinator
*Featured fruit can also be labeled on meal-of-the-day posters.
Creative and Descriptive Names: Magnetic Guides are available and can be picked up from SLM Coordinator
Additional Strategies
A variety of mixed whole fruits are displayed in attractive bowls or baskets.
*This is a low-cost intervention.
A school or school district can choose to switch from serving fruit in pans to serving fruit in attractive bowls. UC CalFresh is NOT to purchase bowls or baskets for schools but CAN help staff find low-cost options.
