Getting Your Extension Program on Youtube
Regretfully and in cooperation with COVID-19 precautions, the video clinics on April 15 and 16 and 21 and 22 are being postponed. While we regret the inconvenience, these are precautions we are taking to support each other.
Despite the delay of these for hands-on, in person learning opportunities, the time is right for video in our extension programs. Reaching California’s with our research-based practical information is never more important than in a time of crisis like we are facing presently. To help you, there are many resources and training opportunities you can access online to grow your video production skills and contribute to UC ANR having an online video presence.

What you'll learn: Extension videos provide UC ANR academics and staff an effective, user-friendly format to educate clientele and connect with Californians throughout the state. Armed with proper skills and equipment, academics and staff can produce their own 3-5 minute “newsletter version” videos in a timely manner at relatively low cost.
The 2-day video production clinics will provide interactive hands-on training to gain knowledge, skills, and confidence in the creation and use of instructional videos in an extension program. These clinics are for enthusiastic learners that will use what they learn in their programs and be a resource for others in Cooperative Extension going forward. Skill building topics to be covered include:
- When is video the right format and planning a video project
- Story boarding and script development
- Video and audio capture
- Equipment selection and use
- Editing software selection and use
- Branding, curation, and distribution
- Archiving
Who should attend: Academics and staff from all ANR program areas. The intent is to provide skills that are applicable in a wide range of contexts. Pre-clinic homework and viewing the recorded webinar is required. In addition, there is an expectation that participants will share what they have learned with others that could not attend.
