At this year's National Pest Management meeting in Orlando, Florida, Donald Reierson was inducted into the Pest Management Professional Hall of Fame. The PMP Hall of Fame was established in 1997 to recognize those leaders that have made significant contributions to the pest control industry.
Don Reierson served as a Staff Research Associate at UCLA and UC Riverside for more than 40 years prior to retiring in 2013. In Orlando, he was recognized for his numerous research and extension contributions to urban entomology. His research focused on the behavior and control of ants, cockroaches and yellowjackets, publishing more than 60 scientific referred publications and 70 technical publications. He served as a co-editor of the book, Understanding and Controlling the German Cockroach. Don was especially adept at converting laboratory findings into practical field practices and solutions. In addition, he has received numerous awards and honors, including the Entomological Society of America Recognition Award in Urban Entomology and a recent Entomological Society of America team award for pest management of ants in urban environments.
