As the OC continues to become the urban center of California, agricultural education becomes more important. Therefore, we have come together to help expand the University of California Agriculture & Natural Resources’ South Coast Research and Extension Center (SCREC), so that one day it will be the premier ag-urban center of Southern California - The place where farmers can meet to learn ways to be good neighbors and preserve their livelihoods; a place where children can learn about their ag heritage; a place where everyone can learn about nutrition; a place where hands-on education is paramount; and a place where vital research can be done.

UCCE Master Gardeners Helped The Oak View School Establish A School Garden

Earlier this year, the community of Oak View had the great fortune of being the focus of the generosity of the Corporate Volunteer Council of Orange County (CVCOC) and OneOC.

The effort -- led by OneOC, CVCOC and Oak View Renewal Partnership -- created a force of over 400 corporate volunteers and Oak View residents, who worked on improvement projects at seven sites around the Oak View community.

With the new school year underway, we return to the playgrounds, Family Resource Center, school campuses, and library to appreciate the hard work that is still visible and impacting our students and families today.
