We're pleased to announce that a new online course on managing ground squirrels and pocket gophers has been added to UC IPM's growing library of online training courses. This course consists of eight video segments recorded by Dr. Roger Baldwin, a University of California Cooperative Extension Specialist in Human-Wildlife Conflict Resolution. Originally presented in June of 2020 as part of the UC Ag Experts Talk webinar series, the course covers pest identification, types of damage they cause, and the importance of their biology and ecology.

The University of California Cooperative Extension and theColusa County Resource Conservation District are co-hosting a Virtual Field Day on March 24th from 10:00am-12:00pm. The event will focus on winter cover cropping in annual systems in the Sacramento Valley and topics will include a field tour of two current project sites, project findings from previous projects with both winter and summer cover crops, and information on cover crop variety selection and management. University of California Cooperative Extension Sutter-Yuba-Colusa is holding a 3-hour pest management webinar on Wednesday, December 9th, 2020 to provide pest management information and research updates on some of the major annual crops in the Sacramento Valley. The presentations are relevant to growers throughout California and are primarily focused on pest management of rice, field crops and processing tomatoes with a portion of the webinar devoted to updates on laws and regulation.

Join UCCE's Grain Cropping Systems Specialist, Mark Lundy next week (11 a.m. on November 6th, 2020) for a presentation on nitrogen management in California Small Grains (hosted by the California Wheat Commission and Golden State Grains).
Dr. Lundy will review methods of measuring soil and plant nitrogen status. This will include some of the decision-making tools being developed by UC agronomists, and discuss methods and strategies for nitrogen management/ monitoring in California small grain rotations. Registration is free.
