In addition to the well-known rice weeds we deal with every year, there are a couple of weeds I want to bring to your attention this year. One is an invasive and the other has been with us for a while.

The annual California Rice Field Day is coming up on Wed., Aug. 26, 2015 at the Rice Experiment Station (RES) in Biggs, California. This is one of my favorite field days:
- the station is impressive
- the fields tours are educational with up-to-date information
- it's a half day event 8:30-12 noon
- they offer a couple of CEUs for PCAs, QALs, QACs, and Private applicators certificate holders
- the event is free AND
- lunch is included--expect a rice dish or two.
