On May 29, 2018, IT will be implementing a new login process, which may affect your access to services and applications.
The following information is available with screen captures at http://anrcs.ucanr.edu/isc/access.
You may have noticed a link to “UCANR Active Directory (Beta test)” on the UC ANR Portal login page. The link was a test of our effort to manage staff computing credentials which are separate from UC Davis and other campuses. We created this new process in support of UC's transition to a new personnel system called UC Path. This system is scheduled to launch for UC ANR in March 2019.
Our beta test of this new authentication service is now complete, and we are preparing to launch it. While we don't anticipate a disruption in access to critical services and applications, please review the following information to ensure you understand what we need you to do now, how you may be affected and what you can do if you encounter any difficulties.
Reset your password
To access the new UC ANR authentication service, you must reset your password in the ANR Portal first. This will set up your password on the new service so that you can login to the new authentication service. You can reset your password by clicking the “Edit Profile” link on the upper left side of your ANR Portal. From there, you will see a “Change Password” link on the left navigation. Please read the new password requirements before attempting to reset it. If you need assistance, please contact us at help@ucanr.edu.
Portal account
If you log into the Portal using your ANR account you will have normal access to the tools provided by ANR. This does not include access to any tools operated by UC Davis, such as Kuali Financial System or the timesheets.
UC Trust and ANR account
UC Trust is a program which allows services and applications provided by different campuses and divisions to be easily accessible. If you login with any of the UC Trust links, you will have normal access to the tools provided by ANR, just as if you used your ANR Account. However, depending on which link you use, your access to systems supported by other locations will change. For folks using UCOP, UCR and UCB links, you will get access to the Portal and any services you are authorized to receive from your locations.
For folks using the UC Davis or UC ANR links, there are key differences which are important to understand.
Logging in with UC Trust
If you have a UC Davis email address, you can use the UC Davis link will log you into the ANR Portal and UC Davis Central Authentication Service. This will grant you access to any UC Davis services and applications you are authorized to use. This includes timesheets for ANR employees who are not located at UCOP or another campus besides UC Davis. It also includes other systems like KFS, Box and Office 365 for folks with UC Davis email accounts.
Logging in with ANR account
If you have a UC ANR email address, using the UC ANR link will log you in the ANR Portal and our new authentication service. Currently, this service currently supports the following systems:
- UC Path – services and applications required for the implementation of UC Path, as well as access to UC Path, will all use the UC ANR authentication services. More details about these services, and how they will impact ANR personnel, will be release shortly.
- UC Recruit – this is an academic recruitment system managed by Human Resources
- Site Improve – a new accessibility and website quality assessment tool being rolled out UC-wide. It's still in beta testing, and we will send a separate email when access is arranged for key website administrators.
- SharePoint – ANR has an instance of SharePoint provided by UCOP. It is currently being tested with several administrative units.
- Additional services and applications will be announced and introduced over time as well as transitions of key services currently provided by UC Davis.
If you require any assistance with resetting your password, encounter any issues logging into the different accounts, or if you have any questions or comments about the new authentication service or UC Path, please contact IT at help@ucanr.edu.
Thank you,
Dave Krause

My Links provides an easy way to store and access frequently used links to online tools and documents. This tool can be found on the bottom left column of your ANR Portal. Links to Adobe Connect, Geckomail, UCD Time Sheets, Contact Lists, and other useful links for ANR staff are listed by default.
Add or Edit Links on My Links
Add new links or edit existing links on your My Links List by selecting the 'Add / Edit Links' option found at the bottom of list.
How to Add Links:
You can add new links anytime to your My Links list by entering the 'Link Name' and 'Link URL'.
An additional option labeled 'Open in new window?' is available on the Add a Link section. 'No' is selected by default. Selecting 'Yes' will result in your link opening in a new tab or window in your browser.

Let's dive in and explore what you can do with the Unit Directory Editor Tool and how.
- Edit Info: access the Unit's Directory Editor Tool
- Website: go to the unit's official website
- Roster: view the members of the unit
Staff who aren't Directors, Managers, or Directory Editors may only have the last two of the above options available to them.
To access a unit's Directory Editor Tool, click the 'Edit Info' option under the unit.
- Categorize Employees
- Request an email for a new employee.
- Add new employees and create an ANR portal account
- View the staff list
- Read and edit directory information of each employee
- Remove employee/s from the unit
Each staff on the list will have 3 options: Profile, Edit, and Delete. Clicking 'Profile' will load their directory information in a new window. To edit a staff's directory information, select 'Edit'.
Edit a staff's directory information in the above page.
'Delete' will remove the selected staff from the unit. This does not delete their email or portal account. However, employees unattached to any unit may have limited access to the ANR Portal and its tools. Please do not use this option on a retiring academics; contact Pam Tise (pdtise@ucanr.edu) instead.
Categorize Employee, Add New Employee, Request Email Account
There are three options under Staff list. You can find these options on the submenu underneath the top main menu of the page.
The first option is 'Categorize Employees'.
This page allows you to add categories and assign individual staff to a category.
The following actions are available to you on the 'Categorize Employee' page.
- Add a new category to your unit.
- Delete an existing category.
- Modify the order of existing categories.
- Click on a category to edit its name. You can type a new name on the textbox at the top of the page. Make sure to click 'Upgrade Category' when you are done.
- Change the assigned category of a staff using the dropdown menu.
Staff with no categories assigned are listed at the very bottom of the page under Uncategorized Staff List. Assign a staff into a category using the dropdown menu.
The next option is 'Add New Employee'. It will add your new employee to the unit, the ANR directory, and grant them access to ANR Portal (instructions sent via email).
If the new staff is located in the ANR Building in Davis, please contact Melissa Figueroa (mfigueroa@ucanr.edu) so they can be added to the local Building Directory and have access to the Building's portal resources.
The third option, 'Request Email Account'. Complete this form to submit a request to create an @ucdavis.edu account for your new staff if they do not have one. Your IT Team in ANR will then create an @ucanr.edu account once UC Davis processes the request.
Disclosure of your social security number is used to verify your identity and to prevent duplication in the UC Davis Personnel System. Transmission of this form is encrypted and secure to protect your information.
Unit Details
Going back to the main menu at the top. The next option, 'Unit Details', allows you to edit the basic information of your unit as well as add subunits and an official website (URL).
Unit Roles
The last option on our main menu is 'Unit Roles'.

The web team transitioned the majority of our web applications and sites to ucanr.edu today. The ANR Portal, Site Builder, Collaborative Tools, and most other applications will now show ucanr.edu instead of ucanr.org. Here are few links demonstrating the new URL:
- Portal - http://ucanr.edu/portal
- Site Builder - http://ucanr.edu/sb3
- Collaborative Tools - http://ucanr.edu/collaborate
- File Vault - http://ucanr.edu/filevault
- Master Gardener VMS - http://ucanr.edu/mg
All old links to ANR web tools should redirect to the new URL. If you see 'ucanr.org' in your address bar or have trouble accessing a tool, please log out of the portal and log back in.
Additionally, all Cooperative Extension sites running under Site Builder have been moved to ucanr.edu. For example, http://ceyolo.ucdavis.edu is now http://ceyolo.ucanr.edu. Please note, the old urls will continue to function; however, once you are in a site, the navigation links should reflect the new URL.
All standard Site Builder URLs have also changed to ucanr.edu. Any site with http://ucanr.org/sites/sitename will now have http://ucanr.edu/sites/sitename as the primary URL. As with the county sites, the old URLs will still function.
The URL transition project required a good deal of link changes, which we automated to the best of our ability. If you experience any issues with a web tool and logging out does not help, or if your website is not behaving normally, please contact Dave Krause at djkrause@ucanr.edu.
