Good job Clyde. A little late in October though as I read this. Would like to know more about the chart and daily solar radiation. Not a lot of difference between El Centro and Davis in August, though solarization is more effective I would think in El Centro. I know the information says to prepare the beds and solarize the individual beds but We had two successive years of very good solarization covering multiple beds (and furrows) with wide plastic. no yield data but visual weed control in furrows was excellent. Always nice to see an article from you.....I retired last year

Excellent ... helpful information, Clyde, thank you. I especially wish I had seen the section of lawn solarizing sooner. I could have suggested this method to the parks people up the road who have just sprayed herbicides as part of their works to renovate the sports oval next to our local kindergarten ... leaving out the important health concerns of herbicide use, solarizing might even be cost competitive. Best regards, Dr David Low, General Manager, The Weed's Network.
