I noticed a cabbage white butterfly today on my Bee Balm. It sat there all day. I noticed later that the wings had dropped to the ground and in the place of the butterfly on the Bee Balm was a white spider!

Have them everywhere in the Texas Hill Country. Our yard is full of them.2-1/2 acres of gorgeous flowers and cabbage whites. Have lived here 22 years and have never seen this many. Wow!

There is a record number of them in my Garden this year(Columbus, Ohio). I grow kale and cabbage. I would catch and kill one to have 2 more show up moments later. I noticed they were liking the green bean plants, in bloom. Then I saw them nectaring on my much desired lima beans, pollinating them. So now I have a dilemma. I only use Pyrethrin when absolutely necessary, preferring to hand pick (a 365um UV light at night makes them stand out). They are somewhat territorial, so I manufactured a few plastic butterflies, white, complete with black dots, and suspended one above each plants. That was yesterday so I do not know if this actually works. When I walk past the plant I am initially fooled into thinking a butterfly is there. But, I am not a butterfly and they are not scented, so who knows.
