It was heartwarming to read this post, and view the five good-sized photos that together convey a strong example of the roles that the "Sierra Station" is playing in demonstrating its potentials in education of a kind that cannot be found on urban school campuses.  
 
Briefly, I was especially taken by the group clustered around a sampling of rangeland plants, and realizing that knowledge of this sort is both enlightening and of personal value. Although the many native species of grasses, legumes, and forbs, mostly annual, that I collected each spring to use in a range plants teaching lab in the (then) Department of Agronomy at Davis back in the late 1960s and through the 1970s have long since disappeared, this picture shows how intriguing acquisition of this kind of knowledge can be, especially to those who have no other access to it.
