What is the effect of the chemicals you're using on the tulles? They seem to be getting thinner and thinner each year.

Are there any studies being done to see how we can rid the Delta of all the primrose that seems to be overtaking a lot of areas?

Our trial isn't affecting the tules - we're pretty far from the shoreline, and the experiment is on a small scale. If the tules are having any problems, it might be due to intense competition from invasive species! (Saw water primrose actually climbing up over the tules yesterday.)

Speaking of which, water primrose is high on our agenda. Other USDA scientists are looking at water primrose ecology & biocontrol options, and we're hoping to start an herbicide trial, similar to this one, next season.
