You'll need to contact the Australians. They don't produce a lot of alfalfa though. For the US - contact the US Forage Export Council.

I didn't know that hay is shipped worldwide. It makes me wonder what other products are shipped to Japan. I would imagine that they would need a lot of meats and grains shipped since they're a smaller island nation.

There are also a range of other agricultural products shipped to Japan and China including rice, citrus, nut crops, milk products and fruits and vegetables

GMO is not only export issue but also domestic issues.
For organic hay, GMO contamination is also truth.

Dr Putnam, I read some article about GMO issues in alfalfa. and you mentioned that approval of RR alfalfa is top priority by US foreign ag service. Is this will solved during the trade talks with China?

Yongeng;
This issue is still pending. We have discussed with the USDA-FAS (Foreign Ag. Service) and they assure us that his is a top priority in their discussions the the Chinese. However, since tariffs are now imposed, that is also an issue of major importance.
