Hi, Cathi. I love your poppy story! We've been trying to start native wildflowers in our Lake Arrowhead "bee garden" - sometimes with success, and sometimes no! With our early frosts and late snows, timing is very important. Lately, I've been starting native flower seeds indoors (April) and trying to transfer plants outdoors in early June. Q: What time of year do you suggest we seed the poppies?

(Reply from Cathi Bibeau) Hello! I threw the seeds around in September; both the golden and the red poppies. They don't transfer though I've tried before. Toss 'em where you'd like them to grow and cross your fingers! They're pretty independent.

Hi Cathi, You've inspired me to give poppies a try. I too have always loved the intense golden color. September is coming soon - I'll be anxious to see what happens next year.
