Last year we bought milkweed plants at a nursery that advertises they are free of neonicotinoid pesticides. Within a few days there were 3 monarch caterpillars on the plants. All of them soon died after ingesting the leaves and when we told the nursery, they stated that they do use non-neonics and we should have isolated the plants for 2 weeks after purchase.

I would really like to help cause, but where do I purchase seeds that are safe for the butterflies without pesticides and so forth? Also, is it safer to buy seeds, and do they grow readily in zone 9B?
