This UC California Naturalist Course will focus on the local watersheds. Alameda Creek Watershed and surrounding natural areas in addition to the Arroyo Viejo Watershed. The Alameda Creek Watershed is the largest watershed and tributary in the Bay Area. It Extends as far south as Mount Hamilton, north to Mount Diablo, east to the Altamont Hills in Livermore, and west to San Francisco Bay. The upper Alameda Creek descends through remote wildlands and ranches, Sunol and Ohlone Regional Wilderness Preserves. The Arroyo Viejo Creek Watershed begins on the western slope of the Oakland hills and runs west through Oakland to the San Francisco Bay, narrowing as it passes through flatter land.
