"Grandmother's Hat"

This rose was found in an abandoned garden in San Jose, and its identity is unknown. Its finder gave it the name because she thought the full, pink flowers looked like the hats our grandmothers used to wear. It is one of the few to bloom as early as February, if it is not pruned too hard, and it blooms all the way through fall. It can be made into a climber or grow as a free-standing shrub that is shortened once a year. The scent is spicy and rich. It grows 6-12 feet high and wide.

Parentage, age and identity are unknown.
