'Mlle de Sombreuil'

Climbing tea rose, white, repeat flowering

The flowers of this rose typify the old rose style. They are white, with an occasional touch of rose and yellow. The flat, quilled, quartered and very double blooms are well scented. The plant climbs to a moderate height. Mlle de Sombreuil was a heroine of the French Revolution, who is reputed to have drunk a glass of the blood of an aristocrat to prove her father’s non-aristocratic status. This rose is among the hardier of the tea roses.
