Winter rains bring high humidity to our gardens and temperatures are often milder during rainy times. This can set up an ideal scenario for disease. What should we do to keep our garden healthy and disease free?

Tips for a healthier garden:

1. Clean up and dispose of fallen leaves
2. Prune out dead or dying plant material
3. Thin the plant canopy to improve air circulation
4. Avoid overhead watering
5. Water in the morning to allow plant surfaces to dry
6. Wide plant spacing promotes a healthier environment
7. If buying new plants select disease resistant varieties.
