About Us

The mission of the ANR Academic Assembly Council is to provide a forum to enhance the impacts of Cooperative Extension programs and address the professional needs of Cooperative Extension academic employees.

Representing the Concerns of Academics

The purpose of the Academic Assembly is to act as a statewide body to advise and assist ANR Administration in maximizing Cooperative Extension’s usefulness to the University and the people of California; study, develop, and recommend policies and procedures for the benefit and welfare of academic employees of Cooperative Extension of the University of California; and promote communication between and within the Cooperative Extension and UC System.

The Academic Assembly is composed of all UC ANR employees with academic positions. Members are represented by committees - Advisors, UC Berkeley Specialists, UC Davis Specialists, UC Riverside Specialists, and Academic Coordinators. In addition, Personnel, Program, Welfare and Benefits, and Academic Policy Committees work in specific areas of concern to academic employees. Chairs from each of these nine committees, plus the Secretary, Past-President, President, and President-Elect comprise the Academic Assembly Council, which is the leadership group for Academic Assembly.

Supporting Professional Society Meeting Travel

Each year, Academic Assembly Council allocates 72% of its budget to support travel for professional society meetings. The Academic Assembly Council travel fund supports professional societies that are recognized organizations holding regularly scheduled meetings primarily for the reporting and exchange of knowledge among members.

Cooperative Extension advisors, academic coordinators and specialists are eligible for one meeting approval per fiscal year (July 1–June 30). Applications are reviewed quarterly.
