Black Emerald
Description
Common synonyms: A12-137 Black Emerald is an early ripening black
seedless grape developed by David Ramming and Ron Tarailo of the USDA-ARS in The cultivar produces medium sized (0.35-.0.5 kg.), conical, well filled clusters that ripen between Perlette and Flame Seedless. The berries are medium in size (2.5-3.0 grams), round to oval in shape and jet black with a light waxy bloom. The skin is medium in thickness, the flesh is translucent and firm and the flavor is described as sweet and neutral. The cultivar is touted for its early maturity. There are less than 40 hectares of Black Emerald in commercial production to date.
