3-E Welcoming Diverse Participants into Cooperative Extension Programming

Wednesday, April 26, 10:45 AM-12:15 PM

This interactive workshop will invite participants to explore promising practices to welcome diverse participants into Extension programming. The goal of the session is to support ANR professionals in effectively strengthen diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging into cooperative extension (CE) research and educational programming. It is not sufficient or acceptable to merely say a program is open to all without making bold changes to ensure the program is relevant, inclusive and equitable. This workshop will allow CE professionals to engage in conversations about where their program is at, what is going well, where we are making mistakes, the barriers or anticipated barriers for participation, and what needs to change to truly engage and welcome diverse participants. The workshop will utilize nationally developed fact sheets to guide participants in discussion, reflection, and planning in order to move forward in our efforts to engage participants inclusively and equitably across program areas. These fact sheets include practical resources and considerations that can inform how we co-design, co-deliver and co-evaluate our programs in partnership with the communities in which we hope to better engage.
