7-A Strengthening Participatory Science and Extension Approaches

Thursday, April 27, 10:30 AM-12:30 PM

Participatory science is becoming increasingly valued by communities, researchers, and funders. In this session participants will learn about participatory science approaches that support both research and extension. Speakers from three statewide programs in ANR will share examples, characteristics and lessons around two broad approaches: Participatory Science and Community-based Participatory Research. The speakers and moderators will explore how these approaches enhance and sustain meaningful community engagement as well as address the relevance, rigor, and reach of programs. A facilitated discussion will provide an opportunity for session participants to examine opportunities in their own work.
