Hi, I have a few yr old Meiwa Kumquat in 2 gal pot. It has at lease 20 good sized fruit. All are yellow and don’t seem to be turning orange as it is almost April. Understand end of Winter is when they should be ripe. I have tasted a couple and they are still sour with just a hint of sweet. New buds are coming out and blooming.
- wondering if there is something wrong?
- do I just wait?

Thanks

I don't believe the cold hardiness information here is correct. I had Meiwa and Nagami planted in the ground approximately 10 feet apart from each other and roughly the same size except the nagami was a little larger. The nagami took major damage from a 25-26F frost while the meiwa was almost totally unaffected. Both are out in the open and not protected in any way. From talking to others in the Gulf Coast the consensus is the same in that Nagami seems to be much less cold hardy than Meiwa.
