Your plant is the Paulownia tomentosa, from china.
AKA Princess Tree, Foxglove Tree, Royal Empress Tree.
Very invasive, FAST growing tree, one of the fastest. 1st year root growth, large root structures. Large Dark Green Leaves, flowers purple after matured. ~Caroline

I would suggest you look at the Paulownia genus for starters. Flowers would help pin down the species. Native to China, it is commonly referred to as a princess or empress tree. Listed as an exotic invasive species in parts of the U.S., it is very fast growing and is cultivated for timber and biomass.

I saw one of these blooming in Berkeley and was taken aback by its stunning show of lavender flower clusters. It took quite a bit of digging to determine what it was, I had never seen anything like it in California. Good luck!

It certainly looks like some type of FIG TREE to me. They grow fast, no flowers, you cut them down and they come back with a vengeance. May fruit in a year or so. Hopefully it's delicious!

Hi I looked it up on the garden answer app and it resembles a Empress Tree, paulownia tomentosa. It does have purple flowers but maybe it’s just not there yet.

We are trying to figure out what this could be! Do you think it could be Empress tree or Paulownia?
