As Wendy Powers and Mark Bell announced Monday, they will be moving on to exciting, new positions this summer. Although I will miss them both personally and professionally, I'm choosing to view this transition as an opportunity for all of us.
In their new roles, Wendy and Mark will get to enjoy new challenges while still being in positions to be valued allies and collaborators with UC ANR going forward. They've both done fantastic work here and leave a tremendous legacy – a stronger, more sustainable foundation for UC ANR that their successors can build upon. I can't thank them enough for everything they've contributed.
Change is often uncomfortable, but it can lead to positive results if we embrace the opportunity to listen to new ideas to grow, improve and innovate. With our increased state budget, so many exciting possibilities lie ahead for UC ANR to make transformational differences for California. Please know that I am deeply committed to seeing those initiatives to fruition; I can't wait to see how the fresh perspectives our new academics and staff members bring will help us make life better for Californians across the state.
Over the next few weeks, I will be working with Wendy, Mark and the rest of the leadership team to delegate duties during the transition. We will apprise you of interim plans as they develop, but please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. As always, many thanks for all the great work you do!
Best wishes,
Glenda
