Not long ago, a sorority of sorts formed between some very unlikely friends. The women are of different ages, backgrounds, and interests. These are my Sisters of the Traveling Plants. I am not quiet sure how the group formed, but we did. Maybe it was gardening that brought us together?
Our first adventure was a trip to the outskirts of Watsonville where we investigated many nurseries. Not being from the Watsonville area, we were constantly disoriented and made many U-turns to get to the nurseries were were seeking out. When we finally located Succulent Gardens, we had only 45 minutes to have a look and shop, boy, was that a whirlwind event! We visited other places like Elkhorn Native Plant Nursery, Sierra Azul and also tried to see the salvias at Cabrillo College. However, we went on a day they were not open. I did get a chance later, without the "sisterhood" to see the sages and it was worth the wait.
Over the last 22 years, I have made many great, long-lasting friendships with gardeners. If you are a gardener, you know this to be true. This is just a 'shout out' to all my gardening friends and the friendships we've cultivated over the years.
Wherever I go looking At vegetation, faun and floralis my call. It brings peace and hope of renewal.
Thanks for the lovely pictures.
