Good posting Cheryl. Hand labor has been the key component for weed control in many of our horticultural crops. Abundant labor has allowed growers to reduce the seedbank to near zero in some cases like the Salinas Valley. Long term less labor for hand weeding will be available, and barring technological breakthroughs weed seedbanks may be more difficult to suppress in the future. This issue needs more attention in my opinion.

Great video Cheryl. Time-lapse can really help demonstrate plant biology phenomena. I wouldn't have guessed that that sowthistle would have continued its development that long after being cut. Makes me want to set up my own camera!

I would like to use this in our vegetable IPM advisory that goes out today and dnn't have time to get your approval. Hope it is ok. I knew from Steve's work that purslane can produce seed after being uprooted but was surprised by sowthistle. thx. barry

All good comments. Thanks very much. I'll see about germinating the seeds soon.
