From the Chickenque Committee:
The 54th Annual 4-H Chickenque and Open House is just weeks away. May 3rd will be here in a blink. The committee has been fine tuning the details. We would like to encourage your club and project leaders to organize at least two booths. This year, we are promoting the event as an open house and it's vital that our visitors see all that we offer. Plus, there is a $50 per booth incentive (up to two booths) per club!
If you have the opportunity, please share our open house flier. You are welcome to put it out while selling tickets or ask if your local school will include it in their newsletter or family folders.
The volunteer positions are filling fast and we are very thankful. A quick note from the cake booth, please do not bring pies or cakes that require refrigeration. SEE ATTACHED FLIERS

Book Drive
Independence 4-H could use your help in collecting 1000 books to start a library in Malawi, Africa. The teachers at the Mulambala Primary School who have applied for the library said that many families there are involved in gardening and farming – what a wonderful fit for 4-H! They are looking for preschool-8th grade reading level books.
We would appreciate any books your club could donate. Please bring them to the April or May CCC meetings or drop them off at the 4-H Office by May 6th. Thank you! (See attached flier for more details)

FREE ALPACAS
I have 40 alpacas in Penngrove that I'd like to donate or give away to good homes. My mother takes care of them now, but she's 77 and having her shoulder replaced in a few weeks. The animals are Huacuya alpacas. We used a few different breeders in Oregon and California so there are some well know bloodlines represented. There are both Peruvian and Chilean animals. Their colors range from black to light fawn. I don't have a problem with breaking the heard up. However, I wouldn't want to give away single animals because they don't tend to do well if they don't have at least one alpaca buddy. Contact Judy to see photos.
