I was lucky to recently spend 8 days in San Miguel de Allende in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico, earlier this month. One of my favorite places to visit while there is El Charco del Ingenio, a combination Botanical Garden and Nature Preserve. My sister, nephew and our friends spent about 4 hours there on a warm afternoon.
There are some plants we share with this very different climate area. But many are totally unlike any I have seen here in our Mediterranean Climate. The pictures that follow are all low growing, mostly blooming, with no identifying markers. My friend, Kate, who lives and gardens in San Miguel, says some are considered weeds. All are interesting to me. Enjoy!
