There are Kestrels in the eaves
Above my room they nest
They should be in the trees
Not disturbing my needed rest
There are Kestrels in the eaves
Scritch scratching all morning long
Why couldn't it have been
A family of sparrows with their song
Hey, you, Kestrels in the eaves!
On the second story above my bed
It's really quite unnerving knowing
You're building right above my head
Hey! Kestrels in the eaves
Just for a glimpse I beg
With all your raucous preparations
Is there possibly an egg?
Kestrels in the eaves
Watching you come and go is quite a sight
Flying back and forth
Until you settle in at night
Hello, Kestrels in the eaves
Comfort, as I'm sure you will
Your young ones, with food and warmth
And your pleasant, calming trill
Kestrels in our eaves
When you bittersweetly depart
We'll watch those first tenuous flights
And we'll be glad in our hearts
There are Kestrels in the eaves
Above my room they nest
They could be in the trees
But it's okay, they need a place to rest
I live in Vacaville, so there must be better nesting areas for them.....
