Thank you for such a great article. It helped me identify a bee I saw in my garden a few days ago. I live in Kamloops, British Columbia. I got a couple blurry photos, he was fast!

Lovely article! I would like to add that we've had several sitings here in my garden in Boulder Creek, CA, too, this year. Quite a comeback!

I'm so glad I found your article. There was a small group of males digging in the sand at our park in Ontario, CA and I thought they were unusual. I'm going to leave them alone since they are not aggressive and rare.

We saw about a half dozen swarms on the spit near Cascade Head and the Salmon River in Oregon. Everything about your description matches what we saw, except there was a white dot behind the head. So when the female and two males were mating, it made a dot, dot, dot pattern.

I live in San Bernardino California and saw one today in my garden. He's so adorable!!
