The Deep Look video seems to imply that the "shrimps" were not non-native recent arrivals to the California rice fields. But I don't hear that explicitly. For example, the eggs could have survived all of their billions of years in some other region of the world, and then more recently hitchhiked to CA with humans. Is it the scientific conclusion that these creatures are native? If so, were they noticed soon after CA farmers first started flooding fields and growing rice?
