I always put them back to normal level. They always seem to do fine with that. Even plants must have the ability to always return to their original state of being!

I've had similar difficulties. I just made sure all,the little feeder and surface roots were covered, and left the soil right at the base of the junction. They seem to be doing well now though. Thanks for sharing.
